North Brabant is home to the world’s most sustainable destination: Van Gogh National Park

Van Gogh National Park took first place in the Destination Management category of the Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards 2026, as judged by an international jury of experts from Green Destinations. This was announced during ITB in Berlin, the world’s largest trade fair for tourism. This means that Brabant is among the global frontrunners in the field of sustainable tourism and destination management. The award was accepted by Van Gogh National Park and Brabant Partners.

This award demonstrates what is possible when nature, heritage, tourism and regional partners work together to create a sustainable destination. As the Van Gogh Sites Foundation, we are proud to contribute to keeping alive the story of the Brabant landscape that inspired Vincent van Gogh.

Walking guide

    The award was presented for the WandelStarter project, an initiative by Brabant Partners. The project was launched within Van Gogh National Park and has since been rolled out across the whole of Brabant. With WandelStarter, you can easily find your ideal starting point for a walk in Brabant. At all walking starting points, you’ll find signposted walking routes of up to 10 km in length. Each starting point provides route information and parking facilities. Select a walking starting point and set off with peace of mind!
