Art’s Boundless Light: artists from Hong Kong exhibit at the Van Gogh Village Museum

| | |

Ten young artists from Hong Kong, one shared source of inspiration: Vincent van Gogh. The exhibition ‘Art’s Boundless Light’ is on display at the Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen until 29 November 2026. The exhibition is a collaboration between the museum, the Van Gogh Sites Foundation and the First Initiative Foundation from Hong Kong.

A new generation at Van Gogh’s former home
Nuenen is no coincidence. It was here that Vincent van Gogh painted *The Potato Eaters* in 1885, his first great masterpiece. In the surroundings where he sought his own style and captured the people around him, a new generation of artists is now being given a platform. In this way, past and present come together.

From Brabant to Hong Kong, and back again
The exhibition stems from ‘Voyage with Van Gogh’ (2024), a major art project in Hong Kong. From the outset, the aim was to do more than simply showcase Van Gogh abroad: the intention was to foster a genuine exchange. To this end, ten emerging artists from Hong Kong were given the opportunity to exhibit their work at one of the Van Gogh venues in Brabant.

What you’ll see
The artists are affiliated with 3812 Gallery (Hong Kong/London). They work in a different era and culture to Van Gogh, but share his sense of light, colour and emotion. They seek beauty in nature, in memories and in everyday life. During your visit, you will discover for yourself where their work aligns with Vincent’s, and where they forge their own path. The curator of the exhibition is Agnes Wu (3812 Gallery).
