Eindhoven: The Gestel lithographic workshop was located behind the house at Lange Dijk 8 (now Vestdijk). Vincent visited the print shop regularly to buy printing ink, which he used to darken his paint. He also commissioned a lithographic stone there for his work *The Potato Eaters*. Of this lithograph – which he sent to friends and acquaintances – only 19 copies are known to exist worldwide. At the printing works, he once saw some paintings by Dimmen Gestel, which he found promising. Vincent advised Dimmen’s parents to send their son to see him. And so Dimmen became Vincent’s pupil.
