Gerwen: Vincent van Gogh sketched St Clement’s Church in Gerwen in December 1883. The church dates from around 1450. The lower section, the north transept and the base of the tower originate from an older building. In the seventeenth century, the church was taken over by the Protestants but later reverted to the Roman Catholic Church. A full restoration was completed in 1993.
The church is now owned by the Pius X Foundation and is a listed building.
