Eindhoven: Vincent regularly made trips to Eindhoven. He taught a few amateur artists at Antoon Hermans’ house, bought his paint from Baijens, his printing ink from Gestel & Sons, and visited his friend Anton Kerssemakers, who lived diagonally opposite the station as it was then. Along the way, he found subjects for his drawings and paintings: the watermill at Opwetten, the church at Tongelre, the sheds at the old station, St Catherine’s Church and the telegraph office. Together with Kerssemakers – who published his memoirs of Vincent in 1912 – he visited museums in Antwerp and Amsterdam.
