Nuenen: The painter Anthon van Rappard, whom Vincent had met in Brussels in 1880, visited him several times whilst he was living in Nuenen. They would set out together to paint. They studied the weavers and visited four watermills in the area together: the Opwettense watermill, the Collse watermill, the Genneper watermill (Eindhoven) and the Hooydonk watermill (Nederwetten), all situated on the River Dommel. In a letter to Van Rappard, Vincent refers to their visit to the Collse watermill.
