Nuenen: The Van Gogh family lived here from 1882 to 1886, with Vincent residing there from December 1883 until the end of 1885. The vicarage was built in 1764 by the municipal council, which at that time was still obliged to provide accommodation for the Reformed minister. Vincent painted both the front and rear façades once each and sketched them once each. Numerous drawings and paintings were created from this garden, featuring, amongst other things, the old tower on the horizon.
The Van Gogh Village Museum is situated opposite the former vicarage in Nuenen. The permanent exhibition in this museum explores life in Nuenen at that time, the harsh life of a farmer, how Vincent became a painter of peasant life, the creation of *The Potato Eaters*, Vincent’s artist friends, and the Van Gogh family. In Vincent’s Light Lab, you can experiment with colour and light, just like Vincent did.
