1849–1871: The Reformed Church

Zundert: Vincent grew up as the son of Reverend Theodorus van Gogh, who preached at this church in Zundert. Initially, he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps. But after a failed career as an evangelist in the Borinage, a Belgian mining region, he turned his back on the institution of the church and his faith became a private matter.
